Mark specializes in Veteran Disability claims, whether an initial claim or one that needs to be appealed for a higher rating. A third of our veterans rate a disability rating with compensation yet many are unaware of this benefit. Mark seeks to assist the veteran in navigating this process and submits their paperwork to the Veterans Administration (VA).
Mark joined Reeder Murphy in early 2021 to advocate for veterans with the VA. As a veteran himself, requiring assistance with a disability claim, he came to Reeder Murphy in 2014 as a client, where he had a favorable outcome. This “favorable outcome” led him to a career in veteran disability assistance.
Mark grew up in a military family serving himself on active duty for over 13 years as a commissioned officer in the US Coast Guard. Several of those years were overseas and assigned to old World War II ice-breaking buoy tenders. His active duty includes ten weeks in 1989 on scene at a crude oil spill at the grounding of the EXXON VALDEX. He understands veterans and their needs, what they go through and how it changes them. He likes to golf, swim, fish, and ski. He has too many interests and too little time.
Prior to joining Reeder Murphy Mark had over 20 years in manufacturing leadership roles in Texas, Illinois, and West Michigan. He has his BA in Biology from Saint Olaf College in Minnesota where he also learned to speak Norwegian, and a much more relevant MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Chicago.
He always seeks to do right for others, be it as the Mayor of the City of Hudsonville, a Boy Scout adult leader, a local YMCA lifeguard or as the Chair of the Advisory Board for the military radio talk show Frontlines of Freedom.
Mark will always offer you a kind word and seeks to serve others. If you are a veteran or know of one, that needs help with a disability claim give him a call. But do not ask him for any sea stories unless you got lots of spare time.
